Suzanne joined the Nonprofit Search, Transition and Planning Team in June, 2021 serving as a
senior consultant on engagements. A leadership transition professional based in the San
Francisco Bay Area, Suzanne brings more than 25 years of experience working with a wide
variety of nonprofit organizations. As an interim executive director over the past five years,
Suzanne has worked with Boards and staff leadership to complete assessments for the
organization, help the organization identify the pivots that it needs to make in order to sustain
its mission impact into the future, and clarify the skills and talents that will serve the nonprofit
well in the next executive. As a twice-previous executive director, Suzanne is committed to
providing informed and insightful consulting services that advance organizational missions and
support the well-being of the non-profit sector, with a particular interest in practices that
redefine leadership structures.
Prior to her specialization in transition leadership, Suzanne had a long career in arts
management. She has written, developed, and presented strategic plans to a number of arts
organizations, working directly with the Board and executive leadership, and under contract with
several major foundations including the James Irvine Foundation, the San Francisco
Foundation, and the San Francisco Arts Commission. She has also served as a Museums
Assessment Program consultant with the American Association of Museums and in this
capacity, conducted organizational and leadership assessments for several museums across
the country over a 10-year period.
Suzanne has a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from the University of Colorado and a Master of
Arts in Museum Studies from the John F. Kennedy University. She also serves as the national
Co-Chair of the Executive Transition Leadership Continuity practice group of the Alliance for
Nonprofit
