Julie brings over 20 years of experience as a nonprofit executive director and board chair to her roles as an interim executive director. As board chair of the French International School of Oregon during the COVID epidemic, she helped guide the community with a steady hand and helped bring clarity to the board’s role in the crisis. As board chair of the Women’s Foundation of Oregon, she helped oversee the merger of two historic women’s foundations and the creation of a statewide organization. As an executive director, she has led nonprofit organizations with missions dedicated to social justice, criminal reform, the environment, public health and independent media. She has managed exceptionally diverse staffs and understands the often-challenging power dynamics inherent in nonprofit management. As interim executive director at Bark, she successfully represented management negotiating a new collective bargaining with unionized staff members.
Julie loves working with organizations in transition, eager to embark on their next chapter. She sees her primary role as interim executive director as setting up the permanent executive director for long-term success. She delivers this by making a thorough organizational assessment and addressing opportunities for improvement in infrastructure, finances, systems, staffing, and governance. She also focuses on building and maintaining trust between the staff and board.
Julie most recently served as Interim Executive Director of the Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts, as statewide membership organization serving the land trust and conservation community in Oregon.
